1981 Beneteau Evasion 37

The Beneteau Evasion 37 "ALGOL" is a well-proven and much admired cruising ketch.The Evasion 37 is a motorsailer with the emphasis on sail. She has internal and external steering positions and benefits from Beneteau's sailing boat design heritage.

These boats tick a lot of boxes and were built in an era of substantial mouldings. A lot of boat for the money and well maintained with a good broad specification.

Hull, deck & superstructure

The Beneteau Evasion 37 is a GRP motor sailor with fin keel, internal and external steering positions and a central cockpit with raised aft deck. 

• Cream (gelcoat) GRP hull.
• Deck - Side decks and foredeck in cream non-slip GRP. The raised aft deck, and cockpit is laid with teak.
• Substantial iron fin keel.
• Skeg hung singe rudder.
• Wheel steering internally and externally.
• Unwater hull epoxied from new.
• Hull soda blasted back to epoxy winter 2010 and coated with two further coats of epoxy before being primed and antifouled.
• Hull taken back to primer again in 2020.
• Antifouled and new anodes spring 2025.

Forward heads

Saloon

• L shaped seating to port with pilot berth above.

The galley and internal helm are within the raised coachroof area with large forward windscreens and side windows giving a panoramic view for the helm and lots of light for the interior. 

Internal helm

• There is a raised steering position to starboard with helm seat, engine and navigation instruments and ships electrical distribution panel.

Galley

• The L shaped galley is aft to port, opposite the internal steering position. It is at the entrance to the corridor leading to the aft cabins.
• Double, full sized sinks, one with a cover.
• Pressurised hot and cold water via a mixer tap.
• Secondary filtered cold water supply via a pressurised tap. Spare filter.
• Gimbaled 3 burner gas cooker with oven.
• Front loading Dometic fridge.

Corridor aft to port

• Giving access to the aft cabins via a door.
• Side access to the engine compartment. Two panels can be removed to give good maintenance access.

• Outboard are wash facilities shared by the two aft cabins. Wash hand basin with pressurised hot and cold water and cupboards for storage.

• There is a separate heads compartment with manual marine flushing toilet.

• Stainless steel pulpit and stanchion posts running twin guard wires to the aft deck. There are side access gates.
• The guard wires meet the stainless steel aft deck rails which extend the full length of the raised deck area and partially wrap round the stern with central access wires.
• Centre cockpit with teak floor grate and teak laid seats.
• The raised aft deck is laid in teak.
