The Westerly Konsort built in the UK by Westerly Marine Ltd. is one of those all time greats. Competent, comfortable and well constructed. She is ideal for short handed, couples or family sailing and has accommodation for 5. 

"Melusina" has been extremely well looked after and benefits from a new Beta 20hp engine in 2012 with 298hrs, She has been regularly updated and continually maintained and is ready to set sail.

"Melusina" had a refit in 2011 when the current owners bought her and has been further refined since. She has been maintained to a high standard by a knowledgeable owner who is clearly detailed and able. Improvements have been made throughout and sympathetically to design, just better. 

For example - 

  • The teak main entrance hatch timber frame, sliding hatch panel and teak washboards have been replaced and the quality of work and finish is excellent. New 2024.
  • The horseshoe lifebuoy holders have been made out of Iroko and are stunning.
  • The teak coachroof grab handles are beautifully turned, more substantial, better looking and better quality.

Hull deck & superstructure

  • Hull mouldings built to Lloyds specification and certified.
  • White GRP hull and superstructure.
  • Westerly blue non slip deck paint.
  • Iron fin keel.
  • Transom hung rudder on a partial skeg.
  • Tiller steering.
  • Hull epoxy coated in 2008.
  • Freshly antifouled for 2025 season.

Interior & accommodation

  • Satin varnished teak interior. Stripped back and re-varnished in 2011.

Forecabin

  • V berth with infill to create a double berth when required.

  • There is a central deck hatch for light, ventilation and safety.

  • There is a large hanging locker just outside the cabin, opposite the heads.

  • Blakes manual toilet.
  • Slide out sink unit with manual pumped cold water.

Saloon

  • Wide sectioned shelves outboard.

  • 2 x coachroof windows either side with curtains. The windows were re-glazed in 2011 and curtains replaced.

Navigation station and quarter berth

  • Aft to port is a large quarter berth which lends a seat to the forward facing chart table.
  • Chart table with internal chart storage.
  • Instrumentation and a shelf outboard.
  • On the bulkhead above the chart table is the engine start panel which has been set into a timber box, beautifully made by the owner, which also covers the cockpit instrument wiring and houses the VHF radio extension speaker and the engine and bilge high water alarms . 

Engine access

  • The engine box is at the foot of the entrance way and is configured with two steps. It can be fully removed giving great access for working on the engine.

Galley

  • Aft to starboard is the galley.
  • Flavell Vanessa gimballed gas cooker with two burners grill and oven.
  • Manual cold water via a foot pump feeds the sink.
  • The sink was replaced in 2019.
  • Large cold storage box (not refrigerated) with chopping board lid.
  • Sliding door fronted locker outboard and bespoke storage for table wear and cups.
  • Beneath the sink are two drawers.

Deck & deck equipment

Deck

  • Stainless steel pulpit and aluminium stanchion post bring double guard wires aft to a stainless steel wrap round pushpit.
  • Deep cockpit with Treadmaster combings, seats and floor and a large seat locker to starboard.

Deck gear

  • Manual SL Anchorman windlass.
  • 25lb CQR anchor.
  • 60m of 8mm chain. New 2014.
  • 25lb kedge anchor with 3m of 8mm chain and 35m of 14mm Octoplait warp spliced on.
  • Galvanised anchor angel.
  • Stainless steel boarding ladder t the stern.
  • Single foredeck mooring cleat fed by fairleads, 2 x midship cleats and 2 x aft cleats.
  • Mooring lines and fenders.

Winches

  • 2 x Lewmar 10 single speed coachroof winches.
  • 2 x Lewmar 30 two speed primary winches on the cockpit combings.
  • 1 x Gibb 7STA single speed self tailing winch mounted on the cockpit combing for the headsail furling.

Rig, rigging & sails

  • Proctor mast with in-mast roller reefing.  (Fully refurbished 2012).
  • The topping lift and all halyards are in-mast.
  • All standing rigging (stainless 6 mm 1x19) replaced as follows: Baby stays 2016; Mainstays 2019; Backstay 2024.
  • Furlex genoa reefing system fitted.  New in 2013.
  • All running rigging renewed.
  • The Main Sheet Traveller and Track are fitted on top of the transom, over the tiller which keeps the cockpit clear.
  • New turning blocks and clutches have been fitted on the coachroof to enable all sail control to be carried out from the cockpit.

Sails

  • Saturn Sails Mainsail. New in 2015.
  • Roller furling Genoa with blue UV strip.
  • Cruising Chute with Snuffer.

Engine

  • Beta Marine 20, 20hp diesel engine and gearbox.
  • Centa flexible coupling to duplex stainless steel shaft.
  • Three blade 15"x10" fixed bronze prop.
  • Engine hours approx. 298.
  • Single lever Morse engine controls.
  • Cockpit mounted Tacho, Temperature and Pressure gauges.

Electrical

  • 2 x 12 volt 110 A.hr batteries, one for the engine, the other for domestic circuits.
  • 1-Both-2-Off switch and a separate Isolator switch for the other circuits are fitted.
  • Ships electrical distribution panel.
  • All electrical wiring has been replaced and a new distribution board fitted 2011.
  • LED lighting throughout.

Tankage & systems

Tanks

  • Fuel - 123L (27gal) stainless steel tank with drainable sump. New 2012.
  • Water - 136L (36gal) stainless steel tank.

Fuel system

  • New fuel supply and return lines with 10micron primary filter with a manual priming pump and a 2 micron coalescer secondary filter. The engine mounted fuel filter acts as a final contamination barrier.

Water system

  • New pipework 2019.
  • New galley sink 2019.

Canvas work

  • New Saturn Sails blue sprayhood. 2024.
  • Boom tent.
