These boats were amongst a few that came through the legendry 1979 Fastnet race!

Ideal for a family or a couple and be rest assured the She 33 will bring you home safely.

Hull, deck & superstructure

Hull & laminate construction:

  • The white GRP hull is a carefully hand laid balsa cored construction using chopped matt and woven uni-directional rovings.
  • South Hants Marine together with the Wolfson Yacht Research Unit at Southampton University carried out a study of space frames and cored GRP construction in yachts. The design & construction has been approved by Lloyds.
  • Gold coloured patented SHE coachroof & deck (non-slip).
  • Gold caviter line & transom.
  • Gelshield gelcoat system applied (1992) below waterline.
  • Freshly antifouled in Grey, July 2025.

Cockpit:

  • Large self draining cockpit has sail stowage starboard.
  • Separate quick release stowage to port for liferaft or dinghy.
  • Seats have solid teak strips.
  • Gas stowage has its own separate self draining compartment. Two gas bottles.

Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • The deck is of sandwich construction, hardwood being introduced into the laminate at high load points. The deck is also bonded to the bulkheads, preventing movement.
  • The anodized aluminium continuous toe-rails are through bolted.
  • The 24-inch stainless steel double railed bow pulpit has five legs with wide bases including load bracing stays.  These take the strain of the stainless steel lifelines.
  • The unique design reduces overall boat length and help to protect the forward navigation lights.
  • Stainless steel loops are fitted for halyard stowage.
  • 24-inch stainless steel double railed bow pushpit.
  • The very strong specially designed stem head fitting incorporates bow roller, head sail and double tack down arrangement. This has recently been removed and reinforced (2024)
  • Chain plates are moulded into the Hull & Deck.   The through bolted stainless steel chain plates are properly aligned to the line of the shrouds and an eye plate carried the inner forestay.  A known weak point in the design, this has recently been removed and an 8-inch reinforcing plate fitted in the deck (2024).
  • Backstay is mounted on the transom.
  • Spinnaker Pole stowage, stainless steel holders are properly designed and fitted to be strong and unobtrusive.
  • Deck hatches re-glazed in 1999.
  • Coachroof windows re-glazed with toughened lass from Eagle Boat Windows. 3 in 1998 and one later.

 Keel:

  • Designed in grey iron.
  • Secured to Hull with high tensile bolts correctly staggered.   Keel was removed, cleaned, checked and bolts reinstated (circa 2005). Cleaned and primed July 2025.
  • The structure and shape of keel allows yacht to be laid alongside for scrubbing.
